Sunnyside Jumbo Broilers

Every year the Sunnyside Jumbo Broilers make more happy customers. Broad breasts, strong legs, excellent feed conversion and livability make for a top broiler or roaster. This fast growing meat type bird can average 5.8 lbs. for pullets, 6.5 lb. for straight run and 7 plus lbs. for cocks in 8 weeks....truly amazing.

White Leghorn

Sunnyside's White Leghorn is the top producer of large white eggs. Its early egg size, feed efficiency, excellent livability and shell quality can’t be beat. Females weigh 2.75 to 3 lbs. at 20 weeks and 3.8 lbs. at maturity.

Dual Purpose

Sagitta

The mating of a red dual purpose female and a broiler type male produces chicks that are red to very dark red-brown in color. The females will average 4 1/2 lbs. and the males 5 1/2 lbs. at 12 weeks of age. Larger than other dual purpose birds but smaller than broilers, the Sagitta has good meat characteristics plus the females have good laying ability.

Brown

The males are buff color with a few dark feathers and weigh 5-6 lbs. at 20-22 weeks. The female is brown with white under feathers and weighs 5 lbs. at maturity. The commercial Brown female has been bred to lay brown eggs at a high rate of production with excellent egg quality. It has a quiet temperment and is extremely hardy.

Special Black

The Special Black is solid in color, with both males and females predominantly black. The Special Black has a reputation for great livability and hardiness. The females are excellent brown egg producers. The females will weight 5 - 5 1/2 lbs. at maturity and males 6 - 7 lbs. at 20-22 weeks making Sunnyside's Special Black an excellent dual purpose bird.

Red

The Sunnyside Red male and female look similar to the old farm favorite, Rhode Island Red - dark brownish red color with black wings and fail feather ends. Females weigh 5 to 5.5 pounds at maturity. Males weigh 6 to 7 pounds at 20 to 22 weeks. Female is really hardy as well as an excellent brown egg producer.

Hobby Farm Assorted

The Hobby Farm assorted is a mixture of our heavy breeds of chicks. The mix includes our Broilers, Browns, and Special Blacks for a variety of color. The breeds and sex are hatchery choice.

Fertile Hatch Eggs

White Leghorn fertile hatch eggs are available for school and research projects. Egg cost varies with quantity. There is a mailing and handling charge unless eggs can be delivered to dealer feed mills on their delivery route days. Ask for details.


Started Pullets

White and brown egg started pullets available first part of August and first part of September. We begin taking orders in early March. Place your order as soon as possible, supplies are limited.

Turkeys

Broad Breasted White

Commercial turkeys raised today are the large Broad Breasted White variety. Females can be expected to weigh 16-18 pounds in 14-16 weeks and Toms 30 pounds in 18-20 weeks.

Broad Breasted Bronze

The Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys are similar in size and confirmation to the Broad Breasted White turkeys. The Bronze are especially beautiful to behold with their large colorful wing span.

Ducklings

Mallards

The color pattern is the same as Rouens but Mallards are much smaller and the meat has a gamey taste not found in domestic ducks.

White Pekins

The Giant White Pekins are the ducks most in demand. They are very hardy and extremely fast growing with 7 pound weights in 8 to 9 weeks. Being white feathered, they dress out nicely.

Rouens

The large type Rouens are fast growing ducks reaching 7-8 pound weights in about 9 weeks. They carry dark feathers that resemble mallard ducks. The drakes carry greenish heads with gray bodies, the hens are brown.
